Historic District Survey information for 60 Commercial St
Architectural Description: This is a 1-1/2-story, 5-bay full cottage with a side gable roof. The asphalt shingle-clad roof has a brick ridge chimney and gable dormers on the front roof slope. These dormers have partial cornice returns. A brick stoop leads to the primary entry door, which is a plank door with a fanlight above, flanked by pilasters. A pattern of alternating long and short incised vertical lines create interest at the cornice. Fenestration generally consists of 6/6 DHS with operable shutters. A centered bay on the east facade has a hipped roof and contains 4/4 and 8/8 DHS. This bay is supported by knee braces. A secondary entry is also located on the east facade, with a storm door and 3-light transom. The rear ell has panel door and storm door with an entry porch. A similar porch is located at the entry on the east facade.
Historical Narrative: A plaque on the building notes that the building was built c. 1790.
