Architectural Description: 18 Alden Street is a 1 1/2-story, 4-bay cottage, oriented to the south. The building is clad in wood shingles, with bands of staggered shingles on gable end. The side gable roof has partial returns, simple cornice and frieze below eaves. Shed dormer on south slope. Main entry is pane and panel door with simple surround. Fenestration includes 2/2 wood DHS windows with storms; some 1/1 DHS are located on the north facade; 3/3 DHS in dormer. A 1-story addition on the west end features an exterior stair to a roof deck and entrance. The addition contains 6/6 DHS windows, and single-light awning windows are located on the north side of the addition.
