Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Shown on the 1836 map and the 1858 atlas, 11 Franklin Street was owned by E. Sweeney in 1880. In the 1886 directory, John Francis, a fisherman, is noted as residing here. By 1907, this property was owned by Manuel Silva, a fisherman, who also owned 9 Franklin next door. This house is one of the earliest houses on Franklin Street which is itself one of Provincetown's earliest side streets. Easy access to water made this an attractive place for the homesteading.
