Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): The building at 15 Center Street is first shown in the 1880 atlas of the town when it was owned by J.S. Atkins. Around the turn of the century, as historic photos indicate, the house was modernized and the current Queen Anne alterations were made. These alterations included the extended rear ell and the gambrel roof forms. The 1907 atlas shows the footprint of the house after its expansion. The house remained in the Atkins family and was owned by James E. Atkins (from at least 1901 to 1907) who was a dealer in furniture and carpets at what was then 248 Commercial.
