Historic District Survey information for 12 Winthrop St
Architectural Description: 12 Winthrop Street is a 1-1/2-story, 3-bay cottage with setback ell. Main building section has front-gable roof with exterior brick chimney, gable dormer and skylight on the south facade. Main entry is a double-leaf arched pane-and-panel door with a flat hood supported by elaborate end brackets; concrete block stoop. Windows are 2/1 replacement vinyl DHS except for a 1/1 wood DHS in the top of the gable end. A square bay is located on the north facade. A rear ell with concrete block chimney, 2/1 DHS and grouped casements extends from the north end of the rear facade. A 2-story side ell extends from the south facade, connected by a double door entrance. The ell has a hipped roof with roof deck, single and paired single-light casement windows. Aluminum cladding on 1st story and wood shingle above. A smaller 2-story section is located to the south of the ell, containing a 1-car garage and living space above. A deck extends across the 2nd story of the ell, and stairs at the rear connect it to the roof deck.
