Article from the United States Commercial Recorder dated December 6, 1890 and reprinted in the Advocate in 1956 about William Matherson and his successful wholesale fish establishment. Another article by John D. Bell about the steamship Longfellow which sank off the Peaked Hills and then, in all likelihood, exploded from dynamite that had been part of its cargo. All crew members were rescued.
