Beaches and Beatniks - Holiday Magazine article
An article entitled 'A View of Provincetown' by Peter Lyon in Holiday Magazine, September 1962, starts with the possibility that Provincetown acquired its nickname 'P'town' in 1937 and that it might have stood for 'Pilgrims', 'Portuguese', 'poets, painters, playwrights', etc. and concludes after a ride on the dunes with Herman Tasha where the author surmises that P'town, if you look hard enough, could very possibly stand for 'peace'.
