Historic District Survey information for 8 Atwood Ave
Architectural Description: 8 Atwood Avenue is a 1-story, 4-bay 3/4 cottage with a side gable roof and a 1-story side ell. A large interior chimney is located at the west gable end. The main entrance has a panel door and full glass storm, shaded by a flat hood supported by end brackets. Windows are 2/2 DHS with wood storms and operable louvered shutters. The side ell has a side gable roof, separate entrance, and a similar door, storm and windows to those on the main block.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): The first owner listed for the house is Mrs. Butler in 1880 although there is indication that a structure was here earlier. The owner for 1907 was H. Smith.
